I’m not the girl of your dreams
so please stop calling me that
I’m not your pin-up fantasy
Why is that the image I’m forced to combat?
I will not give you completeness
so please stop asking
Why is it you think I “should” heal you
with my magic?
I’m not the girl of your dreams
so please stop calling me that
The mask I wear isn’t real
This shell that I have is borrowed
I cannot fulfill all your wishes
I cannot take away your sorrow
I’m not the reality you’ve conjured
nor who you’ve been waiting for
I cannot make you complete
so please stop asking for that
Look without eyes and you’ll see
I’m not the image you’ve created
The beautiful lie of the mind
I shouldn’t have to feel so degraded
The truth can be so hard to find
You can control this illusion
because you are powerful too
You can create your reality
because you are beautiful too
I’m not the girl of your dreams
So please stop calling me that
I’m not the girl of your dreams
I was created for much more than that.
