Citing new research, psychology group supports gay marriage

By Catherine Morrisey-Ribeiro The American Psychological Association (APA) announced its full support for same-sex marriages and unions. Numerous studies have shown that GLBT individuals desire love and companionship in the same ways as heterosexual members of society. Studies also showed that anti-GLBT legislation and politics contributed to stress of these individuals, deteriorating their health and quality of life over time. This is some true progress, considering the APA didn’t declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder meriting institutionalization until 1973.
