Beating Back the Right

This has been a banner week for progressives with victories in several states beating back the nation-wide Republican campaign against immigration, collective bargaining, as well as voting and reproductive rights. In a time when the country is preoccupied with growing economic concerns, the “left” has been confronted with a well-funded and nasty crusade (from Arizona to Mississippi) to consolidate the power and “morals” of conservatives and the wealthy. All signs this week suggest the country is moving in a very different direction.
