Ines P. Rivera Prosdocimi is of Dominican and Argentine descent. Both a painter and writer, she graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Tech, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Figure Drawing and a minor in Creative Writing. Prior to graduating, she was awarded the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award from the Department of Art and Architecture. In 2004, Ms. Rivera participated in the summer program at Altos de Chavon School of Design. She received a M.F.A. in Creative Writing from American University in 2009.

Ms. Rivera’s first solo show, a series of figure compositions, took place in 2003 at XYZ Gallery in Blacksburg, Virginia.  She has since actively exhibited in the District of Columbia Metro Area.  Having spent her childhood summers in the Dominican Republic, her art is heavily influenced by both Dominican and Haitian art. Described as “a search for precision,” Ms. Rivera’s art explores and deconstructs the human body.

When she’s not painting or writing, Ms. Rivera works for a local non-profit and contributes regularly to the DC Spotlight newspaper.
