Zadie SmithOn Tuesday, February 25, celebrated author Zadie Smith visited Colorado College for the 2014 MacLean Symposium on Globalization, Culture, and Literature. Smith’s first novel, White Teeth, won the Whitbread First Novel Award, The Guardian First Book Award, the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for Fiction, and theCommonwealth Writers’ First Book Award. Her second novel, The Autograph Man, won The Jewish Quarterly Wingate Literary Prize. Smith’s third novel, On Beauty, was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and won The Commonwealth Writers’ Best Book Award, as well as the Orange Prize for Fiction. Smith is also the editor of The Book Of Other People and the author of Changing My Mind. She is currently the New Books columnist for Harper’s Magazine, as well as a professor at New York University and a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
